LEVEL OF FRENCH LANGUAGE
French language can be categorized in 6 levels according to the CEFR model.
- Level A1 (Beginner/Elementary)
- Level A2 (Pre-Intermediate)
- Level B1 (Intermediate)
- Level B2 (Upper Intermediate)
- Level C1 (Advanced)
- Level C2 (Proficient)
LEVEL A1
Students will be exposed to a limited number of common expressions of basic functions in familiar contexts, along with basic vocabulary and grammar. In response, they will generate a few single words and set phrases or learn how to make requests. A student who successfully completes the first level will be able to comprehend and apply common everyday brief expressions, as well as recognise the existence of a few basic structural differences (e.g., singular/plural).
LEVEL A2
At this level, students may comprehend a variety of straightforward terms for commonplace basic operations in familiar contexts, and they can occasionally understand the main idea of a French discussion. It expands vocabulary and presents more grammatical ideas. The ability to construct clear queries and responses using knowledge beyond the fundamentals, as well as other short phrases will be demonstrated by the student.
LEVEL B1
Students at this level will be able to participate in casual conversations in French by asking questions on a variety of topics (such as sports or cuisine) and comprehend the main points of casual conversations, though not in great detail. They will also be able to perform the majority of daily social and practical tasks in French. and be able to write short, coherent texts about well-known subjects or subjects of personal interest, as well as recount events and experiences, goals and aspirations, etc.
LEVEL B2
At this level, the learner achieves the pinnacle of spontaneity by consistent engagement, obtains adequate information from other speakers by probing when needed, and is technically capable of handling any type of ordinary negotiation. Students can write clear, detailed writings on a wide range of themes and viewpoints, and their vocabulary, syntax, and spelling are generally adequate. They can also comprehend the major concepts of a complicated work on both tangible and abstract topics.
LEVEL C1
When a student reaches this level, they will be able to communicate clearly and form sentences with good language control. The student will be proficient in most areas and capable of starting new discussions, shifting the topic, and generally managing the conversation rather than just reacting. They will also be able to produce fluency in a variety of topics, including using complex sentence structures to argue for an opinion
LEVEL C2
After completing the course successfully, a student will be able to speak clearly enough to express emotions, defend and uphold a position, or communicate complex information. They will also be able to put arguments and accounts back together in a logical presentation, express themselves clearly and spontaneously, and distinguish between nuances of meaning even in more complicated circumstances. and capable of writing clearly in a variety of forms and on a subject (e.g. narrative, formal argument, business correspondence, prepared public speaking).
